11. OVERVIEW OF FIRST PART OF 1981

There were a number of activities that continued in parallel during the first eight months of 1981:

PERQ Public Relations: the PERQ was shown to all interested parties
ICL - Three Rivers: discussions continued right through the first half of the year.
Committees: approval was obtained from all the relevant SERC Committees for a collaborative programme with ICL
PERQ Hardware/Software Developments
Other Activities.

The following chapters will discuss these topics in order. The general structure of the chapters is given in Figure 11.1. Again specific chapters can be ignored if the reader is uninterested in a particular aspect.
